Your sister pulls hard on your ponytail and you can’t help but think how lucky you are to have her around.
All the things she’s taught you - the value of true friendship, which boy bands are good and which are shit, how to take a punch – what would you have done without her guidance and wisdom? Sure, you wouldn’t have that gnarly scar down your left leg, but it was a valuable lesson learned and besides – what’s a nail in the thigh between sisters?
As you feel her index finger dig into the inside of your cheek like a dully, meaty fish hook, you recall the time she took you to the old fishing hole and pushed you in. That day, you learned how to not drown by being saved by an observant passerby. Teach a man to fish, indeed!
Once again caught in your sister’s warm embrace (her arm wrapped around your throat in a rear naked choke), you muse on how lucky you are to have a family member so openly physically affectionate to you.
Some siblings don’t even hug.
